Amroth's Lament by Flora-lass

Fanwork Notes

For the Potluck Bingo 'From Tolkien's Verse' board prompt 'beyond the great sea-shadow', and also for the Kings & Queens challenge (Amroth having abdicated).

I'm sorry this is so sad! Amroth isn't being very logical or fair, not surprisingly.

Inspired by a discussion at Alliance of Arda, and an instadrabbling session.

Amroth's Lament

Read Amroth's Lament

Nimrodel!
Nimrodel - and Lórien!
My love and my land
So fearful and so fair.
When did I lose you?
Why did I leave you?

How could I abandon my people?
And how could you ask it of me?
But the battles were too long
And your song spoke to me
Of peace, and the sea.
Though never would you speak my tongue
And now you have abandoned me.

So now I battle the waves
And wave farewell, unwillingly.
I will long for you always.
May I find you once more
Where there is no war.
Oh, my Lórien...my land...
My love...my Nimrodel!
