Fair Things Yet to Be by Lindariel

Fanwork Notes

My prompt for the February-March SWG challenge, "Times of Bliss," was this quote.

“And as the years passed Melian and her maidens filled the halls will woven hangings wherein could be read the deeds of the Valar, and many things that had befallen in Arda since its beginning, and shadows of things that were yet to be. That was the fairest dwelling of any king that has ever been east of the Sea.” ~The Silmarillion, "Of the Sindar"

This is fascinating. I like the description of the tapestry and tapestry work, but I'm also interested that Melian seems to be learning from Galadriel while Galadriel learns from her - usually I see only the latter.

Galadriel represents the Aman Elvish culture of which Melian is completely ignorant since she's been in Beleriand for so long.  I think that Galadriel is the freshest, most unknown thing Melian has encountered in a long time, and she's getting all kinds of Yavannilde vibes off her to boot.

Thanks for commenting!  This story is special to me, and it makes me happy that you've expressed interest in it.
