Written for Iavalir's request: Anything with the House of Fëanor (especially the sons but could be anyone.) Genre and era is of your choice. I love stories that center on families and ones that include interactions between characters we usually don't see interacting in canon and fanfiction, but I will be thrilled with anything.

An evil winter has come upon Mithrim, and it is Makalaurë's responsibility to look out for his brothers – in particular for Curufin, who is nursing a strange remnant of their father.

Curufin really is a brat, and ickle Tyelpo is adorable. :D

For some reason, I'm fascinated by the concept of the "Heart of the House" (though to my shame I completely forgot about its Qenya name. Amusingly enough, my brain first rendered "hon-maro" as Japanese! XD), so naturally I enjoyed this tale! Of course, now I also have all sorts of kinda creepy ideas concerning the later Númenorean Heart of the House! (What if Curufin's precious ember was really kept aflame even one Curufin was dead, and what if Elros kindled some lantern on it and kept that light alive until he came to Númenor, and what if -- OK, disturbing!) Anyway, nicely evocative!

Also, your note on "Rosin Rose" made me grin. I didn't know that term before, but it's certainly more useful for Middle-earthly contexts than "St. John's wort"! I might have been tempted to steal my elderly neighbour's word for it - she calls it "Elfenblutkraut" (because of the red juice it'll bleed when broken or crushed). Of course, this amuses me to no end. XD

Again, thank you! I found myself wondering if "hon-maro" sounded Quenya-like enough, but decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. (Though I certainly hope that it doesn't carry any unfortunate implications when it comes to Japanese, if it has any meaning at all in that language. ;))

And you are not alone with your "creepy" (read: awesome!) ideas - mine didn't go quite as far as Númenor, and I actually have some ideas for potential ficcing later on, involving the idea of Noldorin funeral customs (yup, here we go, something with sharp teeth just latched onto my ankles. I suspect that this idea will re-emerge in "The Darkest Season" rather than in a separate fic), but... what if Elendil brought an ember out of Númenor, which then likewise passed from hand to hand... (and oh, convenient thing called Hall of Fire in Rivendell! !!!) - Lyra, help! XD

Elfenblutkraut -- now that's one I haven't heard; the only other name around here (that I know) is Johannisblutkraut (no surprise with the bloody associations, like you said, because of the colour) - I wonder where the Elves (Elfs?) come into it, though! What an interesting notion. (Down, Estelindë!)
