Tolkien Meta Week Starts December 8!
Join us December 8-14, here and on Tumblr, as we share our thoughts, musings, rants, and headcanons about all aspects of Tolkien's world.
I figure, since I've left two lengthy reviews and continue to be captivated by this story, that I ought to go ahead and favorite it. Namely, it has the best presentation of Maitimo in Angband that I've ever come across, and most congruent with how I feel Tolkien would have portrayed it if he had had the time and desire.
This is also the fic that finally, finally redeeemed Nolofinwe for me; I have hated him with a passion since reading the Silmarillion, and this fic completely restructured my view of him- waitaminuteit'sbeenupdated?!- ahem, and I find myself much fonder of him than I was previously. Excuse me, I seem to have a chapter to read...
The story of Maedhros' captivity in Angband, his rescue and his recovery is in the Silmarillion treated in a few paragraphs. This is a fleshed-out account of the events that may have befallen between Maedhros' imprisonment and his return to his old life... as far as that is possible.
Occasionally drifting into AU territory, depending on how closely you follow the source (WHICH source? :P).
The usual warnings apply - particularly to chapters marked with an asterisk.
